Red Tailed Hawk | Falconry Session | Middletown, CT

Falconry has been around since 2,000 BC and its a sport I knew virtually nothing about. I reached out to the Connecticut Falconry Association in order to learn more about the art and sport of modern falconry. Mr. D'Arpino graciously invited me to meet his new female hawk. She is a juvenile red tailed hawk that was captured earlier this year. She is just stunning to see. I had a little bit of bird knowledge through interacting with my macaw, Soya, but it was fascinating to see the difference between her a bird of prey. Mr. D'Arpino plans to work with this hawk over the next couple of years and is planning on taking her out on her first hunt within the next couple of weeks.
